Aww...pretty kitty!

And, yes, everyone should get their cats' teeth checked at least once a year. My cat had gum disease and by the time the vet caught it, the infection was pretty bad. We ended up paying damned near $800 to get it all cleared up and cured.

Anyway, that's my cat story.

Love the blog, btw. I check it everyday. You 3 are doing a kickass job.

My aunt has a very similar looking cat, his name is Frankie, he also rules:

frankie 3

Thanks for the nice comment about my pretty kitty, 35th Street gal! She's great and I love her to bits. Sorry to hear about your cat's gum disease, but glad you were able to catch it. Thanks also for reading the blog and enjoying it! We do our best.

Love the frankie cat! Cutie!

You can actually get enzymatic toothpaste that mixes well with dry food that'll help uour cat's teeth. Astoria Veterinary Group has tubes for roughly $5 (for poultry flavor).

Just a side note, also tried Astoria Animal Hospital on steinway - doc was very rough with my cats & charged a decent amount for getting copies of my cat's records.

Hey Thomas, if that Astoria Animal Hospital is the one between 28th ave and Astoria Blvd.-i've got to say i had a bad experience there on my first visit getting my 2 babies spayed/neutered. i pulled all their stuff and searched out a Dr. that is great with people and with the patients. I love the people and service at 21 Avenue Animal Clinic. I will check them for that toothpaste and try it out. Thanks!

I like the 21 Ave Animal Clinic too.

we also had a terrible and very expensive experience at the astoria animal hospital. on the contrary, the guys of the astoria veterinary group prooved to be competent and honest.

Hi, I just moved here and I'm off Ditmars, I did some searching for a vet, does anyone know anything about All Pets Vet Care on 35th and Ditmars? Thanks for your help! This is a great blog, so glad I found it!

Hey duluoz cats! I just responded to your query on astorians (yes, I'm the same megc there). All Pets Vet Care has a good rep as far as I know. Thanks for checking out the blog! Glad you like it.

All Pets took good care of my cat, Coltrane, when he had some medical problems last year. Only problem was that they have only one vet and the office tends to close early on weekdays. I've also used Astoria Veterinary Group, which has a larger staff of vets and assistants and longer hours. Of the two, however, I must admit I prefer Astoria Veterinary Group.

I'm so glad I found this blog! I am looking for a vet for my two wonderful cats, who are in need of their check-ups. I am looking at visiting 21 Ave Animal Clinic, and this is the only place I could find a review! I'll post again after I take the boys in, and let everyone know what I thought of the clinic.

Dr. Smith at Astoria Vet Group is the best. I've considered them all -- from Steinway and Manhattan. When my dog was seriously hurt, we took her to the 24-hour emergency animal hospital in Manhattan. What a big mistake! We were so frustrated by the vets there. We got three different diagnosis for the next three days. No one could give us a definite answer and the bill skyrocketed astronomically. Everyday was a new procedure they had to put my dog through. We called in Dr. Smith who immediately contacted them. We took our dog out of the hospital and immediately took her to Dr. Smith, who squeezed her into her full schedule that day. She went out of her way for us so I won't take her anywhere else even when we move to Stamford. Also, I've found urbanhound.com to be useful for determining which vets to use. For instance, a lot of forum users there mention Dr. Hassan so be careful!

How is the service at Pampered Poodle?

Also, Wellness is a great brand! Very natural and good for dogs particularly those prone to allergies and skin problems.
