The church used to host the Astoria Performing Arts Center http://apacny.org/ and a good friend of mine who was part of that as well a a member of the Church told me they can't afford not to do this. It's sad to think though. This church was founded by Stephen Halsey, The Father of Astoria. There are some great pictures of this church from the early 1900s' at http://www.laguardiawagnerarchive.lagcc.cuny.edu/ the pictures show that there used to be a big ball field where 33 through 38 streets are today. It will be a great loss for Astoria. That's progress!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11850259.post-1126711676171491072005-09-14T11:27:00.000-04:002005-09-14T11:27:00.000-04:00no, not in a while, but if I see anything I'll pos...no, not in a while, but if I see anything I'll post it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08132816161336193052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11850259.post-1126711210294813012005-09-14T11:20:00.000-04:002005-09-14T11:20:00.000-04:00this is off the subject but has anyone heard more ...this is off the subject but has anyone heard more about the astoria presbyterian church on 33rd st. being demolished to build a 10 story building? that sounds hideous.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
