I don't do scary movies. Life is scary enough. But if you do, Knife in the Water is playing at Socrates Sculpture Park tonight.
While you're over there, have some cevapi or other Bosnian meat goodies at this joint. Let me know how it is. I love the Bosnian place of 34th Ave, TBB.
I've been to Socrates Park many times but never for an outdoor movie, again thank you for the info. We will definitely be making a trip there soon. I can remember in the mid 70's that site was an abandoned construction supply store. It was called Colonial Sand and Stone and it was our haven for fun. It was the equivalent to a kids Play Station 2 today. We would jump off the dock there and swim in the river, yes we swam in the East River. The dock is no longer there but you can still see the pylons that held it up right in front of the new seawall they just built on Vernon Blvd and 31 Ave. There is also an old sunken barge on the shore line there where kids that were afraid to dive off the dock would enter the water. I can remember the times we built make shift rafts and would sail from Hallet's cove and dock in Pot's Cove and spend some time in Astoria Park and then sail back. As I am writing this I can't believe we used to do this sort of stuff and getaway with it. Where were our parents. (LOL) But it's funny because everyone knew everyone in the neighborhood and would always lookout for us. It seems today your lucky if you know who your next door neighbor is... I know times have changed and I don't let my daughter out of my site for a minute. It's always a play date if she wants to hangout and play and always supervised... I guess I do this because of all the stuff I got away with... Anyway thanks for listening it was nice remembering...

ReplyDeleteHi Joey,
ReplyDeleteAbout thehe Bosnian place on 34th Avenue - is this the one on the corner of 38th Street? I've passed by many times and wondered how it was. Can you give us a bit more detailed review? Thanks!
You bet - I plan on it!
ReplyDeleteSounds great. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again.

ReplyDeleteBTW, Richard, I saw your flyer at Broadway Station this weekend. Looks like it will be fun. This is a good place to watch a Sunday day game. (Especially when Leiter's on the mound!)
Will you be coming down... I promise you it will be a great time!!! Also I wanted you to know that I have over 1200 people most from Astoria on my mailing list, and this week I have adding your link to my weekly newsletter. If you would like to be on my list or just see what I wrote e-mail me at starlite1karaoke.com.
ReplyDeletePS. Hope to see you at our Beach Party.
