Bosnian Food in Astoria

There is a sizable Bosnian community in Astoria, in case you hadn't noticed. In truth, I don't know that much about it, but I have noticed the tasty burekas (savory stuffed pastries) and cevapi (skinless little sausages) that abound. There's also stuffed cabbage and peppers and cheap yumminess. The two best places I like to go are Cevabdzinica Sarjevo on 34th Av just West of Steinway and Djerdan #1 on 31st Av between 35th & 34th. Perfectly hearty, cold weather comfort food.

I highly recomend the Burek at Djerdan. I'm starving just thinking about it. It is so cheap too. Don't try to get fancy with speaking with the staff. Keep it at "one __(type)__ buruk". Questions will get you nowhere.

Cevapi aren't sausages at all, rather it's ground beef that's molded into that shape.

Great foods up there!

I am creating a recipes blog where there will be recipes translated on English as well! :)
I figured a lot of people wanted recipes but there weren’t that many resources. I just started out so not many recipes, so far Burek recipe is available. But I plan on adding one recipe with English translation daily.
BTW, Burek is a meat pie! :)
