Cafe Soleil Open!

A new coffee house has opened in Astoria! The Soleil Cafe, on Astoria Blvd South between 37th and 38th Streets, serves coffee (drip and espresso), tea, fresh juices, and baked goods so far. The space is really nice, with lots of comfy furniture, art on the wall, and the color scheme is a mixture of soothing earth tones. WiFi access is unknown at this time. The owner has been in the restaurant business for some time, and his brother is the manager over at Cavo, a well-loved spot in Astoria.

They plan to have music there in the future, too, which is I was happy to hear. The guys running the place are really nice, and very excited about this new venture. The coffee is tasty and the treats there look great (the brownie was yum!). I believe their hours will be between 6am and midnight. I'm looking forward to visiting again. Definitely check them out! And let us know what you think. Pictures below:

its a cute space for sure, but i stopped in for an iced coffee and a bagel w/cream cheese and $4.50 later... wasn't impressed enough to spend more money there! i'll have to check it out later in the day and see what the rest of the prices are. i think $4.50 was pretty steep when i pay $2.50 in midtown for the exact same thing and same quality :(

dbmws, I am able to see the pictures in both Firefox and IE on the PC. I've had no problems on a Mac in the past, too. Hope you can get it to work! You can see them in their original home, here.

My boyfriend and I went there this morning and we absolutely LOVE it. This place has a really special, cool, warm atmosphere and the prices are great. The couple who run the place make you feel so at home. There is a cage in the back with 2 lovebirds that sing and add a special magic to the place. I had a toasted bagel with cream cheese and salmon and it was absolutely delicious. My cappuccino was also especially good and much less expensive than Starbucks. The 3 main NY newspapers were available for free. I'll be going back to this place a lot and it gets my highest possible recommendation.

Cool! I think I'll check it out - possibly for the artists meeting on Feb. 9.
