Astoria Walk

(apologies for the crap cellphone picture)

Was running some errands near Ditmars today, and while walking on 31st Street, I saw this curious gate with the words "Astoria Walk" above it, on the east side of the street. Through the "walk" (which was gated similarly on the other side) were gated protrusions that looked like they could be mini storefronts. Very curious. This is just south of the evil GEM pawnshop. I'll investigate further - but if anyone knows what's up, let us know in the comments!

Curious too. This used to be "piss alley," so I'm wondering how it got from gross to chic overnight. I think it's just an un-opening gate onto the Key Food parking lot. Or maybe they're starting to clean up the neighborhood. The real question is "Why did Mojave paint their storefront an obscene orange?"

Dude! I thought I was just hallucinating about the orange - wasn't it more of a brown/tan color before? Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not imagining things with the color change!

Heh heh... "Piss alley". Totally apropos, but I never heard it before. That place used to stink every time I passed by.

I was wondering the same thing about Mojave. The old sandy color was just right for their theme of southwestern. This new color just looks bizarre.
