Mystery Mansion
Apparently, there's an old mansion on 47th Street just south of the BQE. It was built in 1830, but suffered some damage in the 90s due to vandalism. It sits on landmarked land, so there's less of a chance it'll be razed. If you know anything about the mansion, contact Liz Goff at the Queens Gazette (see article). Looks beautiful in the picture!

ok, it may take some investigating but i'm sure i've seen someone's pics on flickr of this place. alot of pics too.
That's weird cuz (I'm referring to the article) when you buy property your lawyer does a "title search" which means that they do all this research to make sure that nobody else can make any claims to the property in question. You even buy "title insurance" to make sure that that's the case. I think you would know if you were buying something previously landmarked.
Anyone know who owns the funky green van parked out front? I saw a some kids and a big dog get out and head toward the mansion a few nights ago.
here it is!

Actually, that house is my great aunts. My great great great grandfather, (My grandmother's father) Built that house and sculpted all the sculptures. My aunt which just recently moved out of that house used to live their but she couldn't maintain it it was falling apart on her. That house resembles all the hardships my family has gone through to live in america.
Also, the property wasn't sold in 1996 it was sold last june so i don't know where your getting your information from but it's very wrong. Please contact me and tell me where your sources are coming from because i'd like to speak with them aswell.
Matt - if you're sure that you're talking about the same property that's in the article, you should tell that reporter that she's got her facts wrong.
Yeah i have her email, i'll get in touch with her, just its funny how people think its a mystery mansion my aunt lived their not to long ago, i was their not to long ago lol my whole life is involved with that house.
Ah well, that's the [Queens] media for you. It is a beautiful property!
