Solar in Astoria

"Who wouldn't be happy getting a lower bill from Con Ed?"

I know the answer to that question....Everyone!

Frank Adamick of Astoria (he's down on 23rd Ave near Astoria Park) has installed solar panels on his roof. Get this:
Adamick - whose solar roof went online in December 2002 - has found that, on sunny days, it generates more electricity than his home needs. Con Ed is required to buy the extra juice from him.
How awesome is that?!?!?

And love that picture of the park in the distance!

so awesome, we're trying to get some solar panel action happening at our place soon too!

Yeah, I don't know the details, but I think that all the meters run 2-ways, so basically, if you're making juice, it runs backwards and they pay you!

It's even easier to get solar panels to heat your hot water. We're checking that out.

PS. I just saw a bus that runs on solar power a couple weeks ago.
