Some Wine with that Meze?

Today's Tasting Table newsletter about Greek wines piqued my interest because it relates so well to our beloved Greek influenced neighborhood. There are so many amazing, authentic Greek establishments in Astoria that to most of us, names like taramosalata, melitzanosalata, tzatziki and horta don't require clarification. But in terms of great Greek wines, many (including me) are probably lost. What's good? What's cheap? What goes well with Greek dishes?

Tasting Table offers four intriguing recommendations--and the best part is that they're "dirt cheap," ranging between $4-$13/bottle.

Learn a bit about Greek wines and ask for them next time you're at one of Astoria's Greek eateries--or look for them at the liquor store.

To whet your appetite further, below is my personal recommendations list on where to eat Greek:

Omega Wines (29-15 23rd Ave) is one of my favorite wine stores in town, and they have a good selection of Greek wines, too.

I love them too - it's a small shop so it feels intimate and the prices aren't bad.
